DEEP IN THE HEART OF
TEXAS

AMERICAN-MADE
Switchman Pens is dedicated first and foremost to America and her people. We’ve worked hard to source as much as possible from U.S. manufacturers and refineries. Today, nearly 90% of the materials in every bottle of our ink are made right here in the United States.
Every drop is formulated, mixed, bottled, packaged, and shipped from our headquarters in Sugar Land, Texas — entirely by American hands, with no foreign production involved.
OWNED BY AND CELEBRATING AMERICAN FAMILIES
Switchman Pen Co. is named in honor of our grandfather and great-grandfather, John Ferdinand McGhee II — a proud switchman on the legendary Milwaukee Road.
John worked through the Great Depression, the Dust Bowl, two world wars, and the tensions of the Cold War, providing for his family by the honest sweat of his brow. Together with his beloved wife Ruth, he embodied the quiet strength and resilience of the American everyman.
It is to John, Ruth, and all those like them that we dedicate Switchman Pens. We believe even something as simple as a bottle of fine ink can bring a small moment of beauty and joy into hard-working lives — and we hope you’ll agree.

One of the Milwaukee Road’s famed Hiawathas, in service from 1935 to 1979. Two of Mr. McGhee’s colleagues can be seen tending to the train.
